Week 1
Here are the steps I took to make a keychain engraved with my name.
👉Step 1:
Create Sketch and Select Plane. Draw a Rectangle with Dimensions 65 mm x 25 mm.
👉Step 2:
Offset the rectangle by 2mm.
👉Step 3:
Fillet all four corners with a 5 mm radius.
👉Step 4:
Draw a line from top of shape to bottom of shape.
👉Step 5:
Click on the line and select Normal/Construction. Next, click Dimension and separate 7 mm between the line and the leftmost part of the shape.
👉Step 6:
Draw a circle of radius 5 mm at the middle of the line (the triangle indicates the center).
👉Step 7:
Create text by dragging into the position you want and adjust font, size and orientation.
👉Step 8:
Finish Sketch.
👉Step 9:
Extrude base (all area except the circle) to 3 mm.
👉Step 10:
Hide all bodies and Show Sketch.
👉Step 11:
Select Border and Text to extrude 1.5 mm with offset plane
of 3 mm.
👉Step 12:
Change view mode from orthographic to perspective to see 3D
model of your keychain!

💬Reflection on Refresher Activity
This week, we were provided with a Fusion 360 Refresher Course. It has been quite a while since I last used the software and it was a bit challenging to absorb the knowledge again but by the end of it, I was able to review what I had learnt and was able to efficiently handle basic commands again. I was a bit frustrated when things did not go my way but at the end of it, I was glad to see them all work out into the product that I wish to achieve.
Week 2
For this week, I had the task of designing a handphone stand using (Parametric) in Fusion 360. The idea of using parametric appealed greatly to me as I did not have to redo the design all over just to edit one dimension.
Here are the steps I took to create my handphone stand.
👉Step 1:
Create Sketch and choose a plane.
👉Step 2:
Create a rectangle with dimensions 90 mm x 15 mm.
👉Step 3:
Create a line inside touching the top of the rectangle with 9 mm length and 110 degree angle.
👉Step 4:
Draw another line perpendicular to the first line with 11 mm length.
👉Step 5:
Complete the lining by drawing the last line perpendicular to the second line and touching the top of the rectangle.
👉Step 6:
Change dimensions so that the third line is only 26 mm away from the leftmost of the rectangle.
👉Step 7:
Draw the first line for the other side of 10 mm length and 80 degree angle.
👉Step 8:
The second line for that side should be 10 mm and perpendicular to the first line.
👉Step 9:
Complete the lining for the side by drawing a line perpendicular to the second line and touching the top of the rectangle.
👉Step 10:
Fillet all the corners of the rectangle by 5 mm radius.
👉Step 11:
Extrude the area outlined by the lines to 80 mm.
👉Step 12:
Go to Modify > Change Parameters and add User Parameter with Name: Width and Expression 90 mm.
👉Step 13:
Double click on the extrusion icon at the bottom left and rename it Width+ where it should appear red.
👉Step 14:
Change the width (extrusion) of the handphone stand to 90 mm.

💬Reflection on Parametric Activity
I feel that using this parametric modification can be really of use to me and my team in the foreseeable future. It definitely is a good way to readjust the dimensions with much effort to redo all over again. The handphone design itself was a harder thing to accomplish. I could not come up with a flashy design but I think my design is pretty sustainable in its own simplistic aura.
